Planning an Open House That Leads to Bookings and Sales

Arizona-inspired desert landscape.

Give your local event a clear offer, a practical budget, and a follow-up plan.

Decide what the event is for

An open house gives people a chance to experience your business and meet the people behind it. Before choosing decorations or refreshments, decide what you want the event to support. A salon might introduce a package, a studio might demonstrate a class, or a product business might let guests try a new item. Pick a primary purpose so the event has a clear next step.

Make the offer easy to understand

Guests should be able to understand what you are offering, what it costs, and how to take the next step. Keep the offer connected to what they experienced at the event. If you are promoting a package, explain what is included and how it can be used. Avoid making guests sort through several competing offers at once.

Plan around your capacity

An event offer still has to fit the business after the event ends. Check appointment availability, inventory, staffing, and how you will handle purchases or inquiries. For an outdoor Arizona event, consider shade, water, weather, and a suitable time of day. Match the plan to your venue and the conditions expected for that date.

Give every task an owner

Write a short event checklist covering setup, guest welcome, demonstrations, booking or checkout, and cleanup. Decide who will answer questions and where interested guests should go. Try the booking or payment process beforehand so staff know how it works. A simple rehearsal can reveal missing details while there is still time to address them.

Prepare follow-up before the doors open

Give guests a clear way to request more information and explain how you will contact them. Record what they were interested in and assign the next action. Follow up with the information they asked for rather than a generic message. For example, someone interested in a class needs the schedule and enrollment link, while a product inquiry may need availability details.

Review the result

Track attendance, inquiries, bookings, completed purchases, and event costs using consistent definitions. Separate sales completed at the event from later sales you can reasonably connect to it. Attendance alone does not tell you whether the event met its purpose. Use what you learn to decide whether to repeat or adjust the format.

Get help with the event

Brand Activations is available as an à la carte project. Maxwell Group can help plan local opportunities, connect the event to an offer, and establish practical follow-through. The scope, responsibilities, and budget are agreed before work starts.
